Ethics and Autonomous Cars

This is quite a good article on autonomous cars and ethics that I apparently had missed (it is from 2014). In the mean time the first experiences with Tesla’s real life machine learning experiment are reported in various places. I am not convinced though that what is happening is actually on-line learning rather then of-line learning; see the following tweet. Elon Musk also tweeted that regulators now allow Tesla to roll-out autopilot to the rest of the world (except Japan), so the already huge experiment will be expanded even further with the next over the air software update for all Model S’s that have the right hardware (which involves roughly 60.000 cars sold since 2014).
